Robyn R. Fenty NH[22 (/ri'aen@(/ri'aen@ (listen) ree-AN -@;[3][4][n 1] was born on February 20, 1988) is a Barbadian performer, actress and businesswoman. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and was raised in Barbados. She was a candidate for Evan Rogers, an American record producer, who invited her to record demo tapes in the United States. Rihanna signed with Def Jam in 2005 and soon became a household name when she released her first two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006). Both were influenced Caribbean music and reached the top ten spot on the US Billboard 200 charts. Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna's third album was influenced by dance music. It made her a sex icon in the music industry. The chart-topping single "Umbrella" brought Rihanna her first Grammy Award and catapulted her to international stardom. Rihanna continued to mix dance, pop, and R&B genres in her subsequent album, which included Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), and Unapologetic (2012) which was the final of which was her first Billboard 200 number one. A number of chart-topping tracks were released from the albums including "Rude Boy", ("Only Girl in the World")", and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M", "We Discovered Love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds". Anti (2016), her eighth studio album, was her first album since leaving Def Jam. The album was her second US number-one album and included the smash hit track "Work". In her music career, Rihanna has collaborated with numerous artists, including Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, and Shakira. Rihanna is the second-most-sold female artist in the music industry and has more than 250 million records sold globally. She has had 14 number-ones and 31 top 10 singles in the US and 30 top-10 singles in the UK. Nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards including the Icon Award, 12 Billboard Music Awards as well as six Guinness World Records and the NAACP's President's Award are just a couple of her achievements. Time has named her among the top 100 most influential people worldwide in 2012 and 2018. Forbes ranked her among the top 10 highest-paid stars in both 2012 and 2014.
